This resulted in two closely related models:
- Master Fisherman
- Waterman, sometimes referred to by collectors as the Deluxe Angler
Both expanded the traditional fishing knives — Fisherman and Angler — by adding pliers to the toolset.
They appear to have been introduced around 1986 and disappeared before the mid-1990s. Today both models are very rarely encountered.
Neither the Master Fisherman nor the Waterman names appear clearly in standard Victorinox catalogues, suggesting a short production run and possibly distributor-oriented variants.

The traditional 4-layer Angler evolved into the configuration still produced today:
Angler post 1996
- the scissors layer was removed
- pliers replaced it
Seen in this context, the Master Fisherman and Waterman represent a transitional stage in the evolution of Victorinox fishing knives.

These knives combine two specialized toolsets:
